Scotch Street Youth & Community Centre

11/06/25

Scotch Street Youth & Community Centre, 106C Moy Road, BT62 1QP

For Age Without Limits Day, we will bring older and younger people together for a fun art activity, discussion, and refreshments.

This is different from our usual activities because we normally work with a specific age group, but this event will connect different generations to challenge stereotypes about age.

The event will start with a simple icebreaker called “Two Truths and a Myth About My Age”, where everyone shares facts about their age, and others guess which one is not true. This will help people get to know each other and start conversations.

Next, we will have a creative art session and create something together. Older and younger people will work together on paintings and collages. While making art, they can share stories and learn from each other.

After the art session, we will have a group discussion on ageism and internalised ageism. Some key questions will include: What are common stereotypes about older and younger people? - Have you ever felt judged because of your age? -How can different generations support each other?

To make it interactive, we will create a “Words to Retire” Board, where people list common phrases about age that we should stop using.

We will end with a reflection, refreshments, and a call to action, encouraging people to stay connected and keep challenging ageism in everyday life. This will help will bring different generations together in a new and meaningful way.
